Case Study
Johnny is a 5th grader
in Mr. Rodriquez’ classroom. Johnny
constantly disrupts the class by moving around the room, sharpening his pencil
and digging in his desk. When Mr.
Rodriquez attempts to discipline Johnny, Johnny becomes argumentative and
engages Mr. Rodriquez in a power struggle.
During science Johnny began to sharpen his pencil when Mr. Rodriquez was
discussing safety precautions to the class. When Mr. Rodriquez asked Johnny to
sit down Johnny refused and began arguing with Mr. Rodriquez, further
disrupting the class. What could Mr. Rodriquez say based on the Love and Logic
technique to meet Johnny’s needs and still maintain control of the
classroom.
